The apostles were students of Jesus. They listened to his teachings and documented his words to the crowds who would come to hear him preach in the four gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Jesus was a unique figure, not an ordained minister, but a man who spoke with authority and who shared a message of love for God and love for your neighbors, both friend and foe alike.
Jesus spoke about the spiritual realm, “the kingdom of heaven”, in way that the people of his time could understand. He spoke in parables, which are stories that are designed to teach a lesson. Those lessons about the nature of the eternal, about forgiveness, about responsibility, and about love were revealed through the stories that Jesus drew from the experiences of those to whom he was directly speaking.
The goal of this blog is to make the parables of Jesus known and understandable to all who may have a desire to learn. I hope to apply the lessons that I learn to my own life. If you want the same, please join me by reading the parables presented here for yourself. You can follow along with my summary and reflection and then share your own reflections in the comments section. Hopefully, we can help one another to grow in our understanding of how these parables can be applied in our own lives.
